Long:
1.Explain why you think guns should be controlled more strictly, or not.
I have really no concerns for guns because they are a hard item to hide from the police on campus or just in general. the more concerning item i have thought about is the pocket knife, because you can bring one to school, but it has to be smaller than your palm i believe. the knife is an easier item to hide in a bag and some people collect these pocket knifes which means they have access to multiple.
2.What do you think the response might be if something were to happen at a school in Austin?
If it were to happen then the right response would to let it calm down first and just to make sure everyone is okay inside the school and in the portables. Then the police would have to get a description of the suspect. Hopefully only the parents would get notified asap to let the parents know what happened and to let them know their child is safe or has gotten hurt.
3.Explain why so-called assault weapons like the AR-15 should be banned, or not?
the weapon should only be banned for pedestrians not the military or government agencies. other weapons should only be sold if you have a card or an id saying you are part of the armed forces or you are in an government agency. guns in this case would be one of the many items that you should be able to buy has a pedestrian. knifes are dangerous, but are fine i guess.
4.What kind of discussions have you had with family and/or friends regarding that event and the responses the past month?
i do not talk about stuff like that or else i get major anxiety. i did talk about why would someone do that with my mom, but not my friends. this kind of stuff just makes lots of people uncomfortable i think at least. these kinds of things happen a lot but when it happens at a school it gets more attention because their are more children/people involved with it.
5.How would you actively participate in the process of trying to enact change for something you felt strongly about?
i would do the walk out with everyone in march and to settle upon the fact that these things are just going to keep on happening no matter what we try and do to stop them. the more new weapons we create the more dangerous our home called earth is going to be. most people would love for theses kinds of terror types of things would just stop all at once and we could walk the streets without thinking a bomb could explode at any moment. i am part of that group except i try and stay calm in those situations so others stay calm as well.
